It's wonderful being in the right place at the right time to take a perfect picture.

Very good.

White Crack is located along the White Rim Trail in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands Nat'l Park. Extremely popular with mountain bikers and backcountry campers, most who go typically spend 3 to 5 days to complete the 110 mile 4WD loop. White Crack itself is at the southern-most tip of the loop, and is named for one of the few places where its possible to descend to river level, some thousand feet below. This view is looking westerly, and shows Ekker Butte (on the other side of the Green River, in the Maze District) on the horizon, while an isolated thundershower passed by late one September afternoon.

Love this shot! Can a guide be hired in Moab to take me there? I don’t have a 4WD, but I guess they are rentable. Knees are too gone at 72 for a lot of hiking. Of course if I do get to go, I want you to guarantee I get a shot as good as yours, ha ha!

There are a number of commercial outfits in Moab that can take anywhere you might want to go; likewise, places you'd never know existed but that they took you there. Similiarly, a good friend --a pro photographer-- does personal individualized photo tours. As well, 4WD vehicles can be rented in town. I can't guarantee you'll get the same shot I got, but you could easily end up with quite a few that are many times better. If you're really serious, PM me.

I am seriously contemplating it, but can’t go until May. Would love more info and specifics. Am ready to book time and dates now, if necessary. Thanks!

May. Hmmmm. Gnat season......(hey, some years they aren't too, too terrible). Whatever, if it were me, I'd have been doing my bookings a month or three ago. It can get sort of busy around here.

Would the last two weeks in April be a good time? I can be there in two days after the 12th. Have done Arches many times and Canyonlands only once for the Mesa arch. Would like to know how to contact your friend.
