Mission San Xavier, Tucson, Az.

Surely the Mission San Xavier in Tucson, Az., is photographed exceedingly and by some very fine photographers, Ansel Adams for one. A recent practice of the Mission Staff is to light up the mission at night for one night a year. Fortunately I found out about this and took the opportunity to photograph it in this way. It was something of an event because there were many photographers there and it was difficult to stay out of each other's way but somehow we prevailed. Here are my shots.....

Absolutely wonderful images. And the moon adds so much! Thanks for sharing.

Rare opportunity at a great place to photograph. I spent some time there several years back before I know much about exposure (blow highlights) and now that we are moving to the Tucson area I hope to spend some more time. The front of the church is great but when you move around to the back (north side) there is the potential for some pretty good images as well.

Thanks for sharing and good stuff!

Much enjoyed, especially the one with the cactus shadow, reminding us that Earth is near timeless, our constructs not so much.

Marvelous!! I live in Arizona and took photos there many years ago. Had no Idea about a one night lit up shoot. How do I find out when this will happen again ( same question as AzPicLady)?

I will call the Mission Bookstore and find out when the next "One night shoot" will be. I will post the time here.
