This really sucks... Canon no longer supports the Canoscan 8800f flatbed. I called all the way up to Canon Corporate.... they want to sell me the 9000 f for a "big" 10% discount!! Third party drivers are $99.95 for the full version to do prints, slides ,etc.
Epson, on the other hand still supports all of their scanners with drivers for High Sierra.

I’ve had the 9000 for quite a few years, hold old is your 8800? That is always a problem with old peripherals they sometimes last longer much longer than the computers.

Btw, the 9000 is a very good scanner, ours has been used for thousands of pictures and pages of paper.

I have had the scanner for several years, but used it very little. It looks new!! Vuescan wants $70 for the basic and 99.95 for the pro version which does film and slides as well as documents.

Tried downloading a free trial, but couldn't figure it out. They have two versions: on sale @$39.95 for basic and $9.95 for professional. But I could not see a free trial version???

Have you tried to see if it works? Older drivers may not be "supported" but on Windows sytems they frequently work quite well....

Well said.

VueScan works, on both Mac and PC platforms, with just about every scanner ever sold. The developer is continuously updating the software to include new scanners. And if you have a 20 year-old Lower Slobovian scanner, he will probably add it if you ask him.

I've been using VueScan for about 20 years with a variety of scanners and it has never let me down.

Still, UHH members keep posting the same question over and over. And the answer is the same... VueScan.

Buy the $80 version and be set for life.

A thumbs up for Vuescan. I have a Epson WF-7610 that I use it for and when I had aNikon slide scanner, I used Vuescan since the Nikon program did not support Intel chips in OSX.

Yeah, I forgot that VueScan also supports my Nikon Coolscan V, even though Nikon's own software no longer works.

Same here. I have been using Vuescan for many years now and currently use it with an ancient Canon FS4000US slide scanner and an Epson V700 flatbed. The really nice thing is no matter what scanner you buy you never have to learn new software. You can save setups for recurring jobs - I have a document pdf setup as well as daily xword to printer, Sunday xword, color prints, color magazine pages, b&w prints, and on and on. You can even save slides and negs, or anything, as DNG files.

Yep. Vuescan. Small operation, but they care. I’ve talked with Ed several times. Well worth the price.

VueScan is the one. I've used it on a very old legal size scanner and on a Nikon IV slide scanner.
