I hope you have an opportunity to reshoot with a clean sensor. Of course it can be cleaned up....

I am having a problem with lots of spots in my photos. I l cleaned this lens and my sensor before leaving for this trip and I still got them. Am I missing something. Anywhere else I should be looking? Sensor dust balls usually have fuzzy edges. These look like stains. Should I send my camera out for a cleaning? This has been going on for awhile now. Notice all the spots in the blue sky portions of this photo. It is starting to be a concern. It takes longer to clone all these than it did to edit the photo.

Thanks,

This looks like something other than normal sensor dust to me, perhaps due to how you cleaned the sensor. You might have a store in S.F. but if not, California Precision Service is a Nikon approved business and they most likely clean other sensors, too. Their number is (916) 451-1330.

I get mine professionally cleaned and electronically calibrated to one or two of my favorite lenses. It costs me under $30 per set up. I've been using the same store for 5 years and I am extremely happy. Precision Camera in Austin.

The Canon web site has the standard recommendation to send their cameras to a certified Canon service center for sensor cleaning and then it also warns that due to the construction of the sensor, certain models can only be cleaned by a service center using specialized equipment.

I wrapped an optical cloth like the kind my wife gives me from where she works in optometry around the tip of a pencil eraser, sprayed a little lens cleaner on it that she uses to clean glasses and rubbed it around the sensor with the mirror locked up. It is a Canon T5i.

OMG, send it out do it right.

Looks just like dust on the sensor to me. Yes, how did you try to clean it?

They look like oil spots to me. Get the sensor cleaned professionally and fingers crossed the sensor hasn't been damaged by your home cleaning method.

That looks like more then common dust spots. It looks more like residue from a cleaning solution. How damp was the cloth that you used? It does not appear to be a lubricant because if it was the spots would appear darker. Send it in and find out if your sensor has been damaged or do a test that others have described and then take it to a local camera shop for cleaning if you are so lucky to have one near. Good Luck

I hope you have seen the errors of your cleaning methods and either get it done professionally or buy the appropriate kit for your sensor.

However, a quick fix is not to shoot above f8. The shot you sent in was shot at f16 and shows the dust spots fairly clear. Had you shot at f22 they would be even sharper. It's that depth of field thing that allows the spots to be seen. Shooting at f5.6 would make them so fuzzy (very technical term) they wouldn't (depending on size) show on the final print.

Send it out for cleaning and evaluation. As others have said, not a proper way to clean your sensor.

You did not cleaned the sensor! Either use the appropriate device or send it out before you damage the sensor permanently!
