Thanks Shakey. It's the PhaseOne Capture One 11 I am really interested in. The way they go about skin tones seems more precise with incremental adjustments. They have a 30 day free trial. I am waiting till I do another model shoot then try it out. I think there will be a model work shop coming soon. Software price is steep for first time buyers.

I liked the overall composite of the scene so No cropping on this one. Tried to deal with brightening without losing details in the smoke. Adjusted the shadows. Subjectively added a fisherman at the river. Also added a slight vignette.

In this Challenge bring the mountain railroad to life with bold bright colors.

1. The cars of the train need to be bright red to make the color the focal point.

2. Crop the image - or not - as you wish.

3. Zoom in on the engine - or not - as you wish.

4. Enhance the image in any way you please.

5. Bold Bright Colors essential.

Context: to sell tours of Switzerland to tourists.

No RAW file. You'll be fine with the .png file below.

Here is my try at this.

I didn't crop very much because I liked the overall composition, but I did need to get the train out of the image center. The stream added to the image of a train passing thru a gorge. The tracks at the right provided a path for the incoming train to pass out of the picture. I also liked the tree at the top left as it helped frame the image providing a nice foreground element but needed to de-emphaized it. Since it was daylight and had strong shadows, needed to lighten and provide much more contrast. And I loved the smoke from the old steam engine. It looks like its pulling a heavy load uphill.

That's a great interpretation, Rathyatra. Excellent zoom in, spot on with the green, red could have been brighter but overall a fine effort. Well worth 5 thumbs.

Good effort, NJ. There is no doubt the greens are bright and bold. The red cars not so much. However, you get 5 thumbs for effort.

Alrighty, you convinced me to make an attempt and follow your instructions so here is the result. Most of the actions were done inside ACDsee Pro 10 and finished off in Affinity Photo.

Thanks for posting your interpretation, Tatia. You got the cars to be red, however your image needs more contrast. The detail has been lost, which could be cured if your software has a Clarity filter. This filter would also help to provide contrast. Your image also needs to be sharpened, but it is worthy of four thumbs because it's not as easy to get right as members may think.

Thought I'd try again since you were so patient with me on the Sweden image with the red buildings. Crop decision was a little difficult as I like the little stream on the left, but felt it drew the eye away from the train/smoke trail a little too much and I loved the smoke. Couldn't think of anything other than painting down the upper left corner and removing noise with the crop I chose. If I'd had more of the pine trees, might have tried cloning in pine trees. I use Photoshop and many layers. Bev
