Here's my attempt, I did not crop as the view is very good in my opinion, I applied some contrast, brightening, sharpening and finally applied some dehaze.
I could not brighten the red coaches but from memory, they are not that red anyway, so here is your image, edited by me using ZPS X.

Beautiful improvement, John. Five thumbs:

Yep, a good zoom in, Linary. The green could have been a tad greener. You get five thumbs for a good effort.

Here is my version. All done in Photoshop using many layers.

Jim, those cars are really red, bold and bright. Good work indeed. Easy on the greens, you took it right to the edge.

Good effort, NJ. There is no doubt the greens are bright and bold. The red cars not so much. However, you get 5 thumbs for effort.

That's a great interpretation, Rathyatra. Excellent zoom in, spot on with the green, red could have been brighter but overall a fine effort. Well worth 5 thumbs.

My take...not sure about the WB....green is always tough for me.

That's a valiant effort, Pixelpixie. The image needs a tad more contrast. If you have a Clarity filter that will take care of contrast and detail.
Well worth four thumbs even if green is tough for you.

It's a very fine line for me on how far to push the colors while trying to get the desired look that I think you are asking us to achieve for travel magazines. On this one I pushed it, then backed off, then brightened, then backed off again. After I saw the rest of the examples posted I could have reduced the yellow some more and you still probably would have liked it. Removing the tree limb and leaves was quite a task for me. I didn't like the open lower left corner afterwards as it seemed to draw attention away from the train so I added a simple tree there for fill. The picture was a tough one because of the png file. I am finding when I push the colors areas they become harsh edgy contrast areas therefore I go to Noiseless Pro to remove some of the look while at time loosing sharpness.

Terry, are you uploading an image in .jpg or .png? If you are try to load some other kind of file you will have problems. If you are in Windows look down at the bottom left corner of your screen and you'll see the file loading.

Jim, thanks for the comment. If you have problems with .png files, load the file into your photo editor and save it as the editor's preferred format before working on it. The green was so easy to get wrong, which is why I was relaxed in marking.

Thanks Shakey. It's the PhaseOne Capture One 11 I am really interested in. The way they go about skin tones seems more precise with incremental adjustments. They have a 30 day free trial. I am waiting till I do another model shoot then try it out. I think there will be a model work shop coming soon. Software price is steep for first time buyers.
