Thinking about getting a refurbished d3400 package FROM THE NIKON FACTORY. Good price. Wondering s it worth the savings. 90 day warranty included
You'll get a fully reconditioned camera with a 90 day warranty. Purchase with confidence.

I bought my D7100 from Adorama, through Amazon, as a “factory refurbished”. It was also a “Black Friday” sale at Thanksgiving. I paid $489. At that time, the price for a new D7100 was somehere around $1100. Since then the lowest “refurb” price I’ve seen was about $100 more than what I paid. Came with 599 shutter actuations. Can’t tell by looking at it that it wasn’t bought brand new.
Sure, only a 90-day warranty, but I also had Amazon Gift Card credit to cover the price so it really didn’t cost me anything, personally.
If you buy used or refurbished from Cameta Camera, another reputable seller, they will provide a ONE-YEAR warranty, not just the 90-days everyone else does.
If you can afford “new”, go for it. You’ll get a FIVE-YEAR warranty from Nikon.
I recently bought a D3300 refurb from Cameta. I received a camera that was undistinguishable from new at a good price. It had only 224 shutter actuations!
In my opinion it’s the way to go.
BTW...... based on what I read here I bought the D3300 rather than the D3400. The Hogs seem to think it’s a better camera.
I also went with the d3300. I haven't had time to play with it much yet but I did a lot of research on it and it does have some benefits that they took put in the d3400. Such as, the d3300 has an automatic sensor cleaner which the d3400 does not and the d3300 can be adapted to WiFi (of you are interested in that). Plus, it's cheaper. And just a note if you are buying a two lens kit the 55-200mm second lens that comes with the d3300 has VR but the 70 -300mm lens that comes with the d3400 does not. I know that speak had nothing to do with the original question but I thought I would give you something to consider and you can get a refurbished or used d3300 for a 100-200 dollars cheaper than the 3400.

My sentiments as well. Thanks for expressing them much more completely than I did

GET IT. As soon as you get it shoot the crap out of it for a week, if something is going to go wrong, it should that first week of shooting the crap out of it. You have 90 days, use them up. Typically, if there is a problem with refurbished, it will rear it's ugly head right away, well within the warranty period. If it needs repair and Nikon takes say two weeks fixing it, ask Nikon to extend the 90 days by that period of time. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

The answer is YES for the millionth time. But try Cameta Camera where you could get a one year warranty.

I totally agree. Take a lot of pictures, in order to put it through it’s paces before 90 days runs out. ( or year, if you get it through Cameta). Any flaws will show up.

New will get you five years on lenses, not bodies.

My mistake! Correct, of course. However, Nikon’s standard warranty on lenses is one year. To get the five years, you have to register the purchase with Nikon.
