If anyone is wondering-the device is very effective for stabilizing hand held video as well as stills.

I just leave my plate on my camera. there is little or no weight involved.

That should do it-thanks. I have another question for you cause I know you do DIY stuff. See the u-shaped aluminum plate at the end of the PVC pipe? Do you know of a aluminum "sleeve" that might slide over the PVC pipe to replace the current awkward u shape plate?

Consider checking out the wide-range of camera attachment products made by Really Right Stuff. I have found their gear to be very sturdy and surprisingly light in weight. /Ralph

If I were you I would stay with PVC and simply get an appropriate size PVC end cap and drill that out to accept the bolt you have through it.

Sunwayphoto make Arca Swiss compatible clamps that attach directly to the mono pod then you can attach camera via a quick release Arca Swiss plate of L bracket. Don't know if this what you had in mind or not.

I am looking for a light weight tripod connection (plate not the tripod head) that screws directly onto a 1/4" screw- not the quick connection plate that connects to the camera. Although I will need that too. Not looking for brand specific. But lightweight. Thanks.

Here is a link to the one I bought for my monopod.

You can also purchase just a Acra connection clamp at Amazon if you don’t want the tilt feature.

I heartily recommend Arca Swiss compatible clamps. The one I have is very easy to use, well-made, and has a safety pin that keeps the camera from accidentally sliding off when the clamp is loosened.

There are two types of fittings: an end cap and a floor attachment. The floor attachment is flatter on the end; the end caps have rounded edges and would provide less surface for the plate.
