One of the problems that I have with current stunt car chase scenes is that some of the stunts are virtually impossible and on a 2nd look are plain stupid. I still think that Bullitt is the best because it is real cars on real streets just going fast on hills and curves. No stupid impossible jumps or driving backwards on sidewalks or driving with one side of the car leaning over, or swerving in and out of traffic passing cars that are "parked" in the drive lanes, etc, etc. Today's chase scenes are boring because nobody can drive like that in real life (although my 90 grandmother can come close sometimes)

. Especially the grandmother part. My mother called me 2 years ago and said she was good until she is 100. I said good for what? She said she just renewed her driver's license. She is now 98, But she hurt her arm so she has not driven in about a year.

Let's not forget that the movie referred to is "Bullitt" with an "i" and it is a good chase. The movie that defined chase scenes was "The French Connection".

Bullit is a classic. Another good car chase is called "Vanishing Point", a decent movie where the main car is a Dodge Challenger.

The original with Barry Newman, not the remake for TV with Viggo Mortensen ;)

This movie has one of the best chase scenes ever, starring De Niro in "Ronin". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0122690/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

It may be a fine point, but can you count it as a chase scene if there’s only one car in it, going down 86th street in Brooklyn keeping up with the train?

Watching a T.V. show and it referred to Bullet as the greatest car chase ever. Years ago the movie Gone in 60 Seconds the first version and second were released when Nicolas Cage stoled the Yellow and a Silver Mustang which he called Eleanor and the chase they had trying to caught him.

What chase scene is better? The chase scenes in Bullit or the chase scenes in Gone in 60 Seconds? If there is a better car chase movie please tell me. Smoky and the Bandit does not even match to none of these movies.

Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry. Dodge Charger, real driving not computer, with a surprise ending. Kind of hard to find, had Peter Fonda in it.

The Minis in both versions of The Italian Job are worth watching. Not exactly chase scenes but they went where no Mustang would dare to go.

Especially with Charlize Theron behind the wheel. Whew !!!!!

A recent movie which had great car chases, some stuff I've never seen before, is Baby Driver.

Gotta go with the French Connection. Second would be Bullit. Third is the Blues Brothers for chuckles.

Don't forget Gene Hackman in the French Connection-one of the best "in traffic" shoots ever!

The first Jason Bourne movie had a great chase scene with the mini cooper.
