Will be Reno on March 5th-6th, on the way to Shooting The West in Winnemucca. Thinking about renting a car to do some shooting while there.
Need suggestions for photo taking.
Thanks- car buff

Piramid lake, and Lake Tahoe , with incline village are all good If you have a full day Brodie ghost town is a must fabulous
There is an abandon Air Force Early Warning Radar Station on Winnamucca Mountain. While your up there you can see the Winnamucca River, which according to town lore, is the curliest river in the USA. At least that's what they say in town. Also you must try the Basque Restaurant, it's family style, you and 40 of your newest friends.
THANK YOU, LOOKING FORWARD TO EVERYTHING.
Depends a bit on how much time you have to travel about and shoot. You are right next to Lake Tahoe. There are a few very good spots at scenic view points just east of Incline Village. Out of South Shore you can easily get to the Emerald Bay overlook. You can drop over the summit and down to the Grass Valley and Auburn area where there is a nice covered bridge and the old Empire Mine. You can head south on the eastern side of the Sierras and shoot the tufas at Mono Lake. Yosemite is probably out of the question due to the road in from the east (Tioga Pass) will still be closed in early March, as is the road into Bodie ghost town. If you have the time, you can head further south toward Bishop and shoot the Alabama Hills.

Absolute must the resort at Redhawk, eat at David's Grille.
Great place to stay in one of the Villas there.
Carson City, Capitol Building, Mark Twain's house, the Reno Mint, Nevada State Railroad Museum, Governor's Mansion. Lots of history around the Carson City area and worth the very short drive south.
Virginia City (Old West town and where Mark Twain worked.)
Dennis: I was going to suggest Virginia City. week days are less busy. See you Wed am
Also there is a lot of street photography along the strip.
Check out Virginia City and the Bucket of Blood Saloon. Carson City is pretty historic.

The drive all the way around lake Tahoe has many photo opportunities, but maybe you don't have time to do that. It will take most of a day if stopping to take photos.
