Many of you have seen some recent efforts I've made to do pet portraits for a fundraiser. The following are some from the most recent shoot.
For the most part, the animals were great posers. When one family wanted a shot with their dog, cat and rabbit, we started out with the dog (not pictured), then added the cat (the fluffy one) for a second set. When the rabbit was brought in, the cat took a swipe at the rabbit, hissed and ran off. I ended up getting shots of the rabbit separately while the owner held him in a black towel on his back just so his feet would show. You have to admit it's not your average view, but they liked it.

A beautiful set, Vicki--well shot.
Nice set. The Newfie shows why they wear bibs at dog shows until just before being shown. How did you light the animals?

The Newfie had quite a bit of drool that I removed in post. I don't think I could live with that kind of issue - big dog, big drool.
The light on the Newfie was natural. On the others there was a combo of natural and artificial (hand held).
Thanks for taking time for this post DMGill.
Vicki,
I am blown away by your pet portraiture!
You are so...damn...good!
The people owned by those pets must be thrilled with your work!

Vicky, you are really doing a fantastic job on your pet portraits! The lighting, colors and focus are spot on.
The second and last ones are my favorite.
