#1 Alaska and a close second is Oregon. It would be a tie but Oregon does not have the Northern Lights or Glaciers that flow into the Ocean.

Agree there, but US favorite is Acadia in Maine. The best description I have ever heard was from one of my boys when he invited a friend (we sometimes had as many as three of their friends at a time) was "yeah, you think there's nothing to do there, but we keep going back because we never finish doing it!" Been to over thirty states and all of the Maritimes (except PEI), and it is still my favorite.
Now, outside the US, Ireland is stunning - both for scenery and the friendliness of the people.

Must get to PEI. Most interesting place. Also agree on Ireland.
I have been so many wonderful places I can't pick a favorite. I loved the South Island of New Zealand, and the Rocky Mountains of North America. Europe has many great photographic opportunities, as well. I've enjoyed the US Northeast and the Canadian Maritimes.
TonyBot, I've a few photos of Acadia and the Maritimes in this Collection:

Like a few others, Arizona and Utah. The Monuments and NPs are spectacular. The seasons offer many perspectives. Still trying to get the Grand Canyon in snow! Also South Africa, with its mix of fantastic gardens (SW) and game parks (NE). Not to leave off the Seringeti of Kenya and Tanzania.
And golf courses of Ireland and Scotland! Lastly any river that has strong fish in it! Why did I wait so long to retire?

I love the area around Island Park Idaho. I have Yellowstone National Park 20 minutes away. I have the mountains in Island Park and the Tetons are a half hour away. I have moose, deer, antelope and other animals right there and I have Henrys Lake, Yellowstone River, Galatin river, Warm River, Buffalo River, and the Henry's Fork River all within an atv ride. There are farms, pastures, and valleys. Does it sound like I love this area? My main Home in St Petersburg Florida is hard to beat also with the Gulf of Mexico, beaches, and all the parks.

I have two and they are coast to coast. British Columbia and Newfoundland, Canada. I give the nod to Newfoundland.
What has been your paradise, so far?
Yellowstone and the Tetons!
A quick answer is 'everywhere.' More specific, western Washington and also Yellowstone National Park.
Washington DC, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. Seattle, Washington, a great city too. But, it rains too much there for me. Two visits there were rainy for days.
