On a recent early morning photo walk in a nearby town, Sanford, I came across a large building with peeling paint and lots of areas with algae and mold growing on the walls. I also discovered plants rooted in cracks and crevices. I decided to make a mini series to share the details of this most interesting wall. The processing is not my normal style but I kind of like the outcome. Please download and let me know what you think!

Most of the growth seems to be close to this downspout. Maybe it leaks.

I like this series very much! It's inspiring and energizing whenever someone not only steps outside their "usual" but when they also see the potential in things many of us overlook.

The presentation is great IMO with giving us the overview, then closer and closest. Each stands well individually, also for the tones, textures, pops of green and compositions. Very enjoyable, Carol!

Thank you for your very positive comments, Linda. It was only about 40 that morning and I was half frozen! I knew this building was too good to pass up and I enjoyed processing it in a different manner. I have another series from the same day that I am almost through processing.

Thank you, Earl. I took my time on these and thought about what I was doing! It made a difference when it came time to process.

I like these sorts of shots, so: Nice! Post-processed in Topaz Impressions (or something similar)? Kinda wish the close-ups were crisper, but that's just me. Well done!

Thank you, Cany. Processing was done with Affinity and Topaz Studio Simplify. I did these first as very realistic shots with sharp detail which is my normal forte. However, I have been wanting to do more with Topaz and, for me, these were more interesting done this way. I don't have any intention of getting carried away with Topaz but I did find it rewarding to dabble a bit.

Thank you, Angela! This outing was with a local camera club and I almost didn’t go because it was so cold. Got to get some gloves! I’m also planning to go back on my own. We only explored a couple of blocks because of the cold.

Nice work, Carol and sometimes I look at similar scenes and wonder how it looked in its heyday and about the people that frequented or worked there, and then other times I wonder about the property's distant past before these "improvements" were added.

I’m glad you enjoyed these, Corky! I don’t know if the building is in use or not. This was the back side and I never made it around to the front. There probably are a lot of stories it could tell.

I love the fact that you started by showing us the entire wall. Your post processing in the last two turn decay into something interesting. Well done.

Thank you so much, Bill! I felt the the view of the wall gave relevance to the close ups and I was hoping that others would agree that the processing is a plus. I saw the before shots and definitely felt that Topaz added character. Again, thank you for your feedback.
