Or a better explanation would be that a crazy/jealous husband/co-worker/friend/relative/neighbor/ex did it from her computer while she was away.

This is one is actually the most common explanation I hear on rare occasions when I ban people who lose it. With the hacker thing being #2 and an honest mistake being #3.



I've been doing this for a long time and it would take a lot more than that to get me "confused" on a matter like this.

The degree of sophistication required to plant an ideal trail matching two remote hosts at will (including click paths) would be adequate to break into any bank. So I doubt that a person with such capabilities would be wasting time making MWAC look bad on UHH.

Defacing websites is relatively easy. Stealing passwords is easy. Hiding a trail is easy. But planting one is not.

Since you've been here for a while, you know that I don't take the idea of banning people lightly. That should tell you something.

It was her, she e-mailed me. It must have been a very bad day at the office. I'm sorry to see her go.

I really don't feel that anything she said was so aweful that she deserved to be banned. Hurting someones feelings is not a nice thing to do, but it's not a crime to me.
There have been plenty of other people who have done worst and still allowed to stay.

I get demands to ban somebody on almost daily basis. And usually, I let things work themselves out. Sometimes, I contact people and tell them to cool it. And sometimes, I remove posts to "fix" things after having talked to the "offending" users.

In most cases, each side remains unhappy because in their opinion I either overreacted or not acted with enough firmness. But that's fine. Things eventually get back to normal.

It's one thing to get all worked up about something and insult someone only to cool down and apologize later (or to remain enemies or whatever).

But when a person creates fake accounts to insult others, it shows premeditation. You can't be suffering from "temporary insanity" and be trying to avoid consequences, by hiding, at the same time.

When you choose to start badmouthing others while trying to hide your "identity", that's the point when I no longer wish to provide you with my services.

When Mytherwyn created a fake account to insult MWAC. I banned him as soon as I tracked him.

It's ironic that MWAC decided to resort to the same tactics. And it's only fair that she gets the same treatment from me.
