Some Advice for US Members Visiting the UK

UHH members visiting the UK may find this bit of advice of interest, there are lots of places to visit such as Museums, Castles, Cities, Countryside and Scenery. Do not forget to try some Pubs on your visit, be careful though some of these places are not really worth visiting but you can usually tell from the outside, usually pubs out of city centres should be OK. If you see a Wetherspoons Pub you must go in for a guaranteed pleasant visit, they do an excellent Breakfast which includes anything from Baked Beans to Black Pudding, these pubs also serve a huge range of meals all day long at good prices, they also sell a huge range of beers and lagers. If you don't want to stand at the bar to order you can use your phone to order and pay for your food and drinks and it will be delivered to your table very quickly. Incidentally, you do not have to tip as is usual in the UK,
Wetherspoons Pubs are usually very interesting places to visit as they are converted from banks, cinemas, etc, my local branch used to be a Post Office and, they try to keep the original exterior and interior.
So, on your UK visit try to visit one.
I almost forgot, if you order a coffee with your meal for 90p, you can have as many refills as you want, or £1.20 without a meal, (up to 2pm)

Thank you. We no longer travel, but I shall pass along your tips to another couple who do.

That's a bit Harsh breck... I have found that in my travels around the country, Wetherspoons pub meals are excellent value for money, and if you just want a pint..you won't find anywhere cheaper!

Living in the UK many of us enjoy Wetherspoon's Good value for money in pleasant surroundings. And the beer is excellent.

Some USA brands, Jim Bean, Southern Comfort

Unless you prefer to be insulted in fake " French " and be served poor wine at inflated prices in a " French Restaurante "

AND as a bonus be overcharged with a tip demanded

In 1997 my wife and I visited England. We stayed in Hever and took the train into London to do our sightseeing. We really enjoyed our visit and ate at many pubs in the area surrounding Hever. There was one pub across the street for the Hever Castle that we dined in more than once. Good food once you learn how to read the menu in English and not American.
