The only stupid question is the one that is never asked.

Yes, a good one is expensive and you get manual focus and exposure, full manual f stops too, Bob.

You've received the correct responses but ... Based on your question and having a "slew" of Pentax lenses, you may be thinking that you would only use those lenses and not need to purchase either Nikon or Canon lenses. I would caution that thinking since I would expect that you will quickly become frustrated in never having the full auto capabilities of your new camera. If you do intend to get new glass and just use the old glass occassionally then no issue.

Some might say that it would be like going back to the days of real photography, when men were men, women were women and cameras were wondrous contraptions of brass, glass and class! Of course, I wouldn't say that - I'm only a sprightly 65-year old. But I'm going to get me an adapter so I can try some of my lovely Pentax lenses (both old and new) on my Nikon, just for the fun of it. I'm also eyeing up an adaptor to fit Bronica ETRS lenses on a Nikon body. Let's face it - most of us are in the hobby to enjoy ourselves :-P

Hint... BETTER THAN BOOKMARKING A POST-COPY AND PASTE EXTRACTS FROM A POST

Thank you so much for your help.I bookmarked this post and will refer to it often!

I have often found that bookmarking a post is a recipe for never finding it again (and yes, I saw the post about it being in your profile...trust that if you want. What if UHH dies the death of many websites?)

When I find a thread or post that has what I consider valuable information, I copy and paste the valuable posts and paste them into a Word (insert your word processor here) or a file in Wordpad (in all programs>accessories>wordpad> ) and save them to a document which I archive.

I don't save a whole thread this way, but will select, copy and paste the pertinent posts one at a time into the same document, name it accordingly and save it into my documents folder, or a folder named for the purpose. In this case I would create a folder called "UHH forum posts".

This way I have an archive of forum activity that I feel is educational or informative, without relying on the internet.

If I print them out, I will then have them for useless reading when the bombs drop and the EMPs wipe out computers and digital devices (insert cameras here).

I use my Pentax 645 75mm lens on my canon t1i, it makes an excellent portrait lens. Crop factor 1.6.@ 122mm

I just bought an adapter to use old Minolta MC/MD lenses on a Pentax K-2000. Aperture priority and auto shutter exposures are consistent but underexposed. Working on that. Probably will need to go full manual. Film cameras are easier to fool.

Make sure the adapter focuses to infinity.

[quote=Pepsiman]Why not buy a new Pentax body???[/

If I could get a new body, it would be that of a 20 year old.The camera would come later. :)

Actually, the question was one that I wanted to ask long ago. Just a bit of info in my gigantic re -learning of camera gear.Sort of an FYI to myself.

The only stupid question is the one that never gets asked. I found a Pentax to Nikon adaptor on Amazon for £39.95: I haven't bought it yet, but it's on my wish list. Sadly, it's impossible to get a Nikon lens to Pentax body adapter as far as I know.

I found a bunch on eBay...use the search "adapter for nikon lens to pentax"

Thanks - I'll be getting one also - I have a Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lens (and a couple more) from my Pentax Spotmatic camera - my first slr - vintage late 60s - still works fine although I haven't used it in 30 years. Looking forward to having an f/1.4 lens again.

That is a very good question. I also have four lenses from my canon AE-1 PROGRAM. I am happy I will be able to use them on my canon XT--XTi--T3i.

Check out Novoflex. They make lens adapters so that you can use different lens brands on different camera bodies.
