I was there intent on shooting a red-headed woodpecker that was seen earlier in the week at the feeders. I waited 90 minutes and it was a no-show, and it was raining lightly. I decided to leave, and took the path out of the park that went along the north side of the lake. As I turned a corner in the path I came upon this scene. I quickly unpacked my camera, and put a 24-70 on it. This was one take, as the sky changed and it had a totally different look to it, and a slight breeze kicked up and put ripples in the water and the magic was gone. . .

Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-70 F2.8 AF-S, 1/125, F11, ISO 400, 24mm. Three vertical shots merged and edited in Lightroom, then moved to On1 for detail, sharpening, contrast enhancement, color enhancing, etc.

Thanks! Mostly a function of the right place at the right time. I have dozens of shots on all seasons that I've taken from this exact point, but none look like this. And to think I almost took the right fork instead of left . . .

What a fantastic photo. If I was forced at gunpoint to pick out a flaw I would say maybe the shadow detail could be raised ever so slightly.

Thanks! The printed versions has more shadow detail, btw.

Where the 3 shots "lantdscape focus stacking" or "depth of field focus stacking" to get such wonderful depth of field?
