I have recently received my Nikon D850 and am looking for a midrange zoom. I have been reading quite a bit about both the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 vs Sigma Art 24-105 f/4 lenses. There seems to be pluses and minuses on both. I have been leaning towards the Sigma but sometimes I read about focus issues. I would like to hear thoughts from those of you who use either lens. Not looking to get links to comparisons as I have seen plenty of those. Just want honest feedback from users.
Thank you.
I have the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 and use it with a Nikon D800. I am completely happy with it, and would recommend it. The lens is almost always on my camera unless I am shooting something that requires a different lens. I have had no issues with the Nikon lens in the 4+ years I have owned it.
Yup!
I've been "lusting over" the new 24-70mm f2.8e VR for several weeks now myself. Is DEFINITELY what I will eventually have for my D850. But it's a $2400 piece of glass.
Although early reviews fault it for being "softer" than its predecessor. This isn't entirely accurate. Center frame at close distance, it is a bit softer. But is head and shoulders better mid frame and corners as well as further away. All in all a superior landscape and nature lens (with the G being best for closeup portrait work). I *WILL* own one - just still nursing my "financial wounds" from the purchase of the d850 body. Meanwhile the '850 is the happy home of my Nikkor 200-500mm f5.6. The 850 is so fast and quiet! That combo (sans mono-pod) is great for birding!
I too use the Nikon 24-120 on my d850 and have been very pleased with it. If I could only carry one lense while traveling this is it. Never used the Sigma, I’m pleased with the Nikon for what I use it for.
The Nikon 24-120 is the lens I keep on my D500 for general use. I bought it used over a year ago from a local guy and have been very pleased with the purchase.
I got the 24-120 after thinking long and hard about the 24-70. Since I'm going to use the 24-120 for travel and walking around, the size and weight of the lens were major factors (as well as price).
The Nikon 24-120 is my day-to-day lens on my D500. No issues, very satisfied. I don't think you'll be disappointed

The 24-120 f/4 VR is my “go-to” glass too. Nikon D750 & D780.
