Why would anyone put a Sigma lens on a high end Nikon body? Get the Nikon 200-500!

For LOTS of reasons! Not the least of which is more zoom range and its fully weathersealed, and the Nikon is not sealed at all.
Better question would be, why would you feel compelled to denigrate someone elses decision based on your own mis-guided opinion???
And yes, I use the Sigma on ALL my high end Nikons with great success!

Because the Sigma ART lenses have been thoroughly tested by the most reliable camera lens reviewers and found to be SUPERIOR to most others.
Do you read any other sites or blogs?
And, BTW, I HAVE the Nikon equivalents and they are not as sharp and contrasty as the Sigmas on the D810. I also have the excellent Nikkor 200-400, so I don't feel the need for the 200-500.

I have the Nikon 80-400 4.5-5.6 but it died from an impact with a tile floor in Costa Rica. (Faulty camera straps is a whole other topic for the future!)

Looking for something affordable and with the reach I need.
I have seen no bad reviews of the Sigma telephoto.
Someone local (west Chicago suburbs) uses the Sigma 150-600 lens and captures the best wildlife images with a Canon 7D Mark II. His photos are the best I have ever seen. I believe there are people in this group who would agree that the Sigma lenses offer good value and quality. I weighed budget restrictions for a long time before making the decision. The USB hub was a compelling feature.

Sigma and Tamron BOTH offer USB Docking technology for tuning their newest lines of lenses. Also, both of their 100-40pmm lenses are quite good for their asking prices.
