For those in the market - or just struggling with temptation - Nikon is offering 10% off on refurbished cameras and lenses for a short while. https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-store/refurbished-cameras.page?cid=img_en_us:EML:EC:1122018:10off:2018-01-12_10-Off-Refurbished-Initial:na:img:shopCameras&ET_CID=1786425&ET_RID=326673548#!/tag:8ps:Digital%20SLR%20Cameras/tag:8ps:Nikon%201%20Cameras/tag:8ps:Compact%20Digital%20Cameras/tag:8ps:Film%20Cameras

I checked with Cameta, and they have the D5500 for the same price as Nikon. The D7200 from Cameta is $699 vs the $849 Nikon is asking. Refurbished prices seem to vary depending on dealer and availability.

All of the major camera stores seem to follow the same pricing as Nikon when Nikon has a sale. As far as the current sale, most of the models are obsolete, so in a short time they will be available from other sources for even less.

Most all lenses are not obsolete. AND, the D750 and D810 and D500 are still being offered new.

It depends on how you define "obsolete"; when Nikon stops making them or when they run out of them. They are only being offered until Nikon dups the ones they have on hand. Within a short time, Nikon will exhaust their supply and the products will drop in price on the open market.

Jerry, members of the forum that are not aware of it should know that Cameta is a very reputable company that offers one year warranty on refurbs. Members should also know that those refurb are done by Nikon.

Wow $849 for the D7200 refurbished? During the holiday brand new D7200 was $800. I would much rather wait for sales on new ones than buying refurbished.

Don't jump too quickly -- about 1 1/2 years ago I bought a refurb direct from Nikon for 20% off. Now I very often see 10% off and I wonder if Nikon has learned that they do not have to offer any higher discounts.

Yep. The D7200 was indeed offered brand spanking new for $800 last month from B&H Photo. I almost was tempted to jump on that offer. But, I'm saving for a new lens. I'm surprised the D7100 is still in production, now that the D7200 and D7500 are currently being sold as new cameras.

Not enough of a discount to take the risk. You never know if the actual problem was corrected or just a symptom.

Good point. 90 days or 5 years?

Just an FYI... I picked up a D7100 today from B&H for $600. It was listed as "used" with a condition listed as a 10. I asked B&H what the shutter count was and they came back with 2 (verified 2 pictures). This is a brand new camera.
