There are people out there who are so Anti-Trump they can't look at a positive thing like bonuses, raises etc. and find a way to blame Trump in the process.

If it’s in the mainstream media and involves the name Trump take it with a grain of salt.

Just an FYI on those bonuses Walmart is handing out,

Walmart's wage increase will take effect in February. The company said the one-time bonuses would cost the company $400 million and will be based on length of service. Employees who have worked for at least 20 years will get the full $1,000, but most will get up to a few hundred dollars.

It also might be because Costco has better merchandise and lower prices. They also take better care of their employees. I quit shopping at Sams soon after our Costco opened.

ABC’s, all networks are exaggerating and especially TWN with their reporters standing in high wind/rain/snow so it look more sensational, just talking about windchill or humidex to make temperature worst than it is. Not so long ago a local newspaper ran a headline, section of overpass crash down on lower level, wow when you read on you realize that they we’re demolishing it and the crane lower it on when a problem arise, oh they also forgot to mention that this lower section had been closed and out of service

It is faulty thinking to blame the tax cut and bonus to employees for the store closings. To opine otherwise may indicate you are a victim of the liberal spin doctors. Walmart is in business to make money with or without a tax break. Sam's Club stores never had the right atmosphere and certain features that Costco presents. Compare Costco and Sam's who have the same basic business plan and Costco wins especially with the quality of staff. Sam paid minimum wage, Costco much more and they attracted "people persons" and not the dead heads at Sam's who let you know ringing up your order was a bother.

Costco is a great store with excellent help. Years ago I heard that starting salary is $13 per hour at Costco. The family that owns Walmart is the richest in the US. Their wealth is off the backs of their workers and the Us tax payer since we subsidize Walmart workers healthcare etc.

Fantastic summation !
So tired of the emotional crap.
Sam’s Club has been losing business to Costco for years . Walmart is in business to make money , period .

Your healthcare claim is something I’m going to check into .
But your statement about the Families wealth is made off the backs of their workers sounds a little like Marxism to me . Of course their workers make them money ! That’s Capitalism .

I read that they are allowing many of them to transfer to other nearby Sam's and Walmart stores.

....and the wages cut by closing the stores is about 1/2 the amount of the bonuses alone. Add in the extra $2/hr for its over a million employees and you have quite a sharing, yes? Also note there is no proof it’s a one time bonus, and that’s not even mentioning the other perks that have been created.

Yes, I saw that too. The Walton's have never demonstrated concern or caring about anything other than increasing their fortunes.

My local Sam's (which is closing) used to have a photo center that did quality work. When they closed the photo center they told us to go to Walmart to have our photos done. Walmart's photos cost three to four times as much as Sam's and the quality was horrendous. Instead, I joined Costco (which is 30 minutes away); after joining, Costco was going to close its photo center, but enough people complained so they kept it open.

Sam's was never a money-maker for Walmart (or so I've read). Walmart is making a strategic move to strengthen its bottom line.
