Canon 7D Question

I just bought a Canon 7D and when I carry the camera on my shoulder with the lens down, the lens travels all the way out. Any ideas how to fix the problem?

Lensband is the easiest solution. Other solutions include searching for newer models that include a lock on the lens for travel.

I would try the suggestion above.

Rubber band works well also.

I use a rubber band and that solves the problem.

This is a common, though relatively "minor" problem. Over the years I've had four or five Canon 28-135 that all did it. In fact, "zoom creep" occurs with many lenses. I see it with my Canon 24-70/2.8 and 100-400L II, too. (The latter has a zoom tensioner adjustment that can be used to "lock" the lens in any position, to prevent it.) I know it also happens with 24-105L and many other zooms that aren't internal zooming.

Somewhere online I saw a method of replacing some washers to increase the tension on the zoom mechanism. You might Google it. But it requires some partial disassembly and you'd probably have to modify existing washers pretty precisely for size and thickness.

And the Lens Band or "rubber band" trick works almost as well. If you don't want to spend a few $ for the fancier Lens Band, it's often possible to get nice wide rubber bands for free from the produce department of your local grocery store. They use them on carrots, asparagus, and some other things. Ask someone there, I'm sure they'll have some to give you.
