My new obcession...Fluid art.
I've found a new hobby. This type of painting is great fun. Messy and a little expensive due to the amount of paint used, but so interesting. Every piece a surprise.

...these are pretty cool...I see water type creatures in the second one...maybe a frog (bottom middle) and some type of river mammal... side view of maybe a fisher (top middle/right)... the bottom painting reminds me of the classic Japanese painting of the wave...thanks for letting me play along...
Thanks...Good imagination!.. a possum stands for me in the second photo, the beauty of this technique is you never know what will happen.
Cool! I see a definite frog in the second one. Reminds me of years ago, I must have been about 10, and Mom had us in the back yard laying papers into a vat of water with thinned oil paint floating on the top. Wish I could remember what we did with our art pieces. All I remember is the process.

Very cool, and psychedelic. Is this where you float paint on water and then lay paper over it? Yes, sounds messy. Good "stuff" so far.
Thanks, no its acrylic paint thinned a little with pva glue and water. You mix your colours separately in cups, add a drop or two of silicone or hair oil, then pour the colours into one cup. Then flip the cup onto canvas and let sit for a minute to drain. I poured white paint around the cup, then dragged and lifted the cup, then tilted the canvas this way and that. The silicone creates the beautiful cells and effects. I then ran a bbq lighter flame across which brings up more cells. Such fun. Uses a lot of paint and there's some waste which I hate, but there it is.
That's just one method called a dirty cup pour. There are lots of others and if you like arty stuff, Google acrylic fluid pour. It's fascinating what people do.

Sounds like messy fun, Jude.
I see a crocodiles eyes just above the water, an otter, and a frog in the second one. Looks like you have found a very interesting new hobby. Oh dear, on second examination I just spotted some sort of long billed bird laying horizontally on the bottom.
50 years ago you could have had a career as an avant grade abstract artist. Today, it's hard to compete with Photoshop.

[Wow that's gorgeous! I know what you mean...but I guess physical art will never die out. To me, two very different art forms, and this is so interesting to create.
