Granddaughter and her Christmas camera...

Grandpa had to TRY and have some fun by giving a camera of "lesser quality" before the real thing; however, the joke was on Papa because she didn't even recognize the camera or the film for what it was. Damn technology. I found a film cartridge, box with price tag, camera, and a flash cube and she had no idea what it was or how to install the film... and the flash cube was a blank stare...

What's this?
What's this?...

And this is?
And this is?...

Where does it go?
Where does it go?...

THIS is what I asked Santa for!

I think you would get the same reaction giving some people a quality digital camera, unless it had an "I" in front of the name.

My son gave that same 3400 kit to my granddaughter. I gave her a book for it!

When we scam Christmas present recipients we use boxes that were meant for something else altogether. I would probably have put the new camera in a box for a blender or mixer or something like that.

Seems like a double Christmas surprise for her. Now she will be able to show all her friends what a real camera looks like

That was very cool, Grandpa!! She looks delighted with the new Nikon. You'll have lots of fun with her.

When my Granddaughter opened her D3400 she got the connection to her phone working BEFORE she put a lens on it!

FWIW, David Busch's Nikon D3400 guide book seems to be as good as a book gets.
