Travels with Bob..........One of those WOW......moments as we headed to Yellowstone.
WOW! That was our 1st impression when we spotted these horses upon a hilltop as we were driving along Interstate 90 in Montana during our road trip. So of course......just had to take a picture! (If you haven't yet looked at the picture......please do & then come back for the rest of the story.)
As I was taking a few pictures, my wife, Betty, noticed that none of the horses were moving. It wasn't until a few days later while we were in West Yellowstone that I happened to open a magazine in our room & Bingo......discovered a great article that explains this photo.
They were created by a Bozman Sculptor, Jim Dolan. "It can take more than a second glance to realize that these 6 feet to 8 feet tall sheets of steel adorned with lengths of polyester rope (for some movement) are anything less than alive." Artist.....Jim Dolan granted the horses as a gift to the people of Montana & installed them in 2013 after 15 months of work in the shop. There are 39 steel horses installed on Kamp Hill, property owned by Wheat Montana. It's called "Bleu Horses".
I've decided to let this picture, due to the storyline, have its own space. You might just want to check out the Download. Bob

Thank you Dr. Nikon for finding this post "so cool". And when one does the Download you can see that they are actually....blue. I also like the twist on him naming it "Bleu Horses". Appreciate your viewing this post! Finding myself wondering how they might look today...12/30/17....??? Bob

Thank you angler. Was so happy to run across the article explaining what we had seen a few days earlier. It enabled me to give some meaning & depth to the photo so I could share it on UHH. Much appreciated, Bob

Thanks UTMike.....for checking out this post on the horses. Happy that you found the story "compelling". It's fun being able to share moments like this with others. Happy New Year!

I have some close-up pictures of these horses if you like. The story behind them, is a artist made them for Miles City , Montana, because they have "The Bucking Horse Sale " ( Rodeo ) every year. The artist who built them, set them up there and left them there for a year, with hopes that the city would purchase them, because Miles City is known for Cowboys and horses..... The city couldn't come up with the money, and there were no private individuals willing to donate the amount wanted..so he picked them up and brought them to where they are at now.

I hope these give you a better look, I miss seeing them traveling to Billings where my son lives. It's like you say, if you don't look close at them, you would think they were real...

Very cool, we saw something similar while in Idaho...they were way up on a hill and nearly fooled me!
