I've used the Tamron 16-300 on my d7100 for several years and it's my main walk-around lens. I am very happy with it but I am going to African again next year to shoot animals and am presently looking to upgrade to the Tamron 18-400 for the extra reach. I see others here who have done that and are happy with the 18-400 so I'd recommend giving that a look. Either way it's a great walk-around lens. My only problem has been that it's a bit slow and causes some problems in low light situations (or maybe that me causing the problems). I got a Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens for those situations and that's been a good addition for my needs. If extended reach is not necessary to you the 16-300 would be a good choice.

If you are really interested in the 16-300 pm me and we can discuss whether you are interested in my used lens.

I looked at the Tamron 16/300mm Lens, but ended up purchasing the Tamron 18/400mm Lens. My goal was to secure an 'All-In-One' lens. A lens I could use indoors, capturing my Grandkids and Great-Grandkids being kids, other family ; as well as using outdoors capturing wildlife, old barns and farm houses, and my absolute favorite object - Dead Trees. Full disclosure, I have not taken thousands of pictures with this lens yet, but have taken around 500 on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. With the exception of photographer error, the pictures were very good at both short and long range. I was able to grab some amazing closeups of my new twin Great-Granddaughters! I would recommend the Tamron 18/400mm Lens; it IS an excellent All-In-One Lens.

I happen to have the Sigma 18-300. I love it. I can't compare it to the Tamron.

I have one on my Canon 60D. It is the only lens i have. So far I have had no problems whatsoever. Good sharp images. Easy to manipulate. Does exactly what I want it to do. I do recommend it.

I have the Tamron 16-300 and I find it an excellent lens. I really like the 16mm as most lenses don't go that short. I also have the Nikon 70-300mm DX especially for the very sharp photos at 200-300mm. Like I said that I like the Tamron for the 16-200 but beware that after 200mm it isn't as sharp as the Nikon. Also, the tamron only goes to 270mm not 300mm as advertised. The world is made up of compromises. Either one is a very good lens.

I use it on a D7100 and I love it! It's a great all around lens. Was thinking about trading it for a Nikon 18-300 which is said to be a bit better but the Tamron is a terrific lens.

I have four lenses with 300mm capabilities and the Tamron is only about a 260mm lens, it comes nowhere near the pic size taken with my other lenses at 300mm...the three other lenses have identical pic sizes....try it for yourself if you have other lenses that do 300mm...I was quite surprised when I did the test...it's a fine lens apart from that...

I do not have that lens, but I do have the Tamron 28-300 and I do have specific opinions on such wide zoom range lenses. On the pro side... you spend way less time changing lenses, as this will give you a lens for 90% of your needs. On the minus side...... it is a jack of all trades and master of none. In many cases, if I bothered to change to another lens (a prime or narrower range zoom) I would probably get a slightly better exposure. Also, as the day wears on, it gets heavier and heavier. I have several plastic, lightweight Canon lenses that do not wear a groove into my shoulder. A lens of this type is particularly useful on vacation, where you may be shooting from a moving car, or find that the picture you want right now is for the lens that you just took off ! Good luck.

Here are a few examples of this lens. All being used on Canon 80D. The first three are at 400mm and the fourth is at 50mm....Rich

Not knowing anything on how you took the photo all I could do was a little enhancement and that sharpened it up but there is a lot of noise and that I couldn't do much as I have no Idea on how this photo was taken and what camera you used. Hope you don't mind that I did this. I just like to help when I can....Rich

I under stand what you are saying but I was told by a professional photo instructor that any photo taken with a digital camera needs PP. It's the nature of the censor which is not like film. It does take up a little time but it is worth it in the end. I found for me I can do it in less then a minute on my photos. I'm not a great lover of PP but it does help for the short time it takes....Rich

I've had the 16-300 on my d7200 then upgraded to the d500. It stays on the camera unless I'm shooting the 150-600 catching birds a long way off. I carry a 1.4x in my pocket but have never found the need for it, 300x1.5=450mm and that's good.

I don't wanna go there - - and I don't think the OP wants to go there either
I can PP, and am reasonably good at it -- but I'd refer the shots SOOC to be 85-90% of what I could otherwise do in Post.
IF I need longer - - I'll use my Fuji S1. If I decide I need better IQ, then I'll look more closely at the Sigma or the Tammy 150-600 G2.
While I might have gotten a bad copy of the Tamron 18-400, I''m not going to invest any more time and effort into that lens.
