I am biased ... I have had NIKON equipment for over 70 years ... now have the D500 and the D810 plus an assortment of lenses ... like you, I do not sell my images ...I teach digital photography and do individual tutoring. Since you already have NIKON lenses it would seem that switching might be counterproductive ... The D500 is probably the best DX camera available ... Again, in my judgement, the NIKOR lenses are the best. Good Luck !

I asked you to back up that statement in the other post, as did another member ....... but so far nothing. Why do we ask? I can find no information anywhere that backs up your statement, and am very much interested to discover where you got it from.

Ron, in my humble opinion you are already answering your concerns when you say you are leaning toward the XT-2. From what I know the D500 is a great camera for action and wildlife not meaning it cannot perform to perfection with landscapes and other subjects. I am sure you know that once using the XT-2 you have to sell your present gear and you will take a hit.
If you have tried the XT-2, I am sure you know that it is lighter than the D500 which is an asset for hiking.

After adding the Fuji XT-1 to my Nikon kit (D300 and D750 with all pro glass), and seeing the high quality images from my Fuji with the 18-55, 10-24 and 55-200, I eventually moved up to the XT-2 and added most of the Fuji lenses after selling all my Nikon gear. But you already have some good Nikon glass, and the D500 is a great camera. So you do have a dilemma. The big advantages of the Fuji, however, are its smaller size and lighter weight, the EVF tells you "what you see is what you get," and the wonderful ergonomics of its controls. Also, the Fuji lenses are just as sharp as Nikon glass, and for the most part, they are smaller and lighter.

By the way, I don't know what the "issues" are with the 10-24mm. It is a fantastic lens....extremely sharp and virtually no distortion even at 10mm. The only "issue" might be that it is not weather sealed. I've never seen a bad review, and I've never taken a bad photo with it (at least that was the fault of the lens.)

I've never regretted my move from Nikon to Fuji, and I shoot travel and adventure for national magazines.

No i have not tried the XT 2.We are not close to a camera shop,normally like to touch/hold before i buy.
As i understand it, i have large hands and would still need a add on battery therefore getting in big camera territory.
Love the Fuji color though.When i shot film i always had Fuji Velvia 100 in my camera.
I still may get a Fuji X100f with fixed 23mm sounds interesting. Thanks

Firmware updates have vastly improved the XT-2's continuous focus performance. Recent tests have shown it is now equal to the Nikon D500. The XT-2 battery pack that adds two batteries to the one in the camera body improves performance, and you can shoot all day long without changing batteries. Or, simply keep a couple of extras with you. They're a cheap answer to "the battery problem." But, hey, if you're happy switching back to Nikon, that's fine. I was a Nikon shooter for years and have a portfolio of great images taken with my D70, D200, D300 and D750. All very good cameras, especially the D750.

In the "Professional's" store in Baltimore (Service Photo) I was informed that Nikon is looking to enter the mirrorless market in a BIG way next year! I know, a year is a "lifetime" in anticipatory terms.

Go for the D500; much more strongly built, and better for your purpose. I have a D3, and the fuji. Take your pick, But I know which I would go for !
