LOL, Historian??? The Justice Department is part of the Executive Branch, which the President runs and has full control over. Any first year Law student would know that fact. Heck, anyone who didn't sleep through 10th grade Social Studies would know that. How far did you make it in school?

The FBI has a long tradation of Independence from Executive authority, which is why the Director is appointed for ten year terms—to reduce the influence of politics in justice.
Clearly, Trump can fire the Director of the FBI, but he approaches tender ground as we saw in Watergate. There’s a thin line between the Executive Branch (and Politics) and the Justice System (the FBI and the Court System).
I know you think otherwise, but there might be a demonstration again for you, as there was in Watergate.

Nixon got in trouble, for covering up a felony. The breaking into opposition offices at the Watergate Bldg. was an obvious crime, and covering it uo, an obvious felony. It had NOTHING to do with the justice dept. The "stturday night massacre was not the reasson for Nixons resignation. Impending impeachment for the crime of covering up felony (obstruction) was. In case you for got a crime must have been commited for there to be obstruction. To date there is zero evidence that Trump has comited any crime. There are, in case you don't know, 3 branches of government and the President has absolute control over 1 of them. The Dept of Justice exists solely within the Executive. Therefore the presdident has absolute` control of that dept. Every one in the justice dept (except for the sivil service employees) works at the pleasure of the president. There can be NO argument about that that FACT
