That's a 1950. It has the "bullet" parking lights, and the chrome on the rear fender flair. The 1951 moved the parking lights further outboard, and the grill was changed.

It's a 1950. The 1949 has several upright pieces in the lower part of the grille and the 1951 has signal lights in the extended parts of the grille. The 1952 grille has five small chrome spears on the long part of the grille. The cars are otherwise very similar.

My father had a 54 Chevy and I don't recall it looking like the one in the photo.

no it's not, it is a '49 or '50...google a '50 and the '51 that you're convinced it is, then you will see the difference, look at the parking lights

Really? All of my 'googling' confirmed that it is, in fact, a '51. Had a '51 and '52 and a '53 and a '49 in family...know them well.

Here is a shot of a 50 sold at Barrett-Jackson. Notice identical grill on the posted shot - car is certainly a 50, unless modified.

Being a classic car enthusiast I wholeheartedly agree with many that it is a 1950...beyond a doubt.
I guess that the Film Toaster would be great at scanning portraits as it can knock years off the subject!

Thanks for the confirmation!
Here's a 51 Chevy from auto trader. Note the parking light difference.

I identified it by the grill. It is a 1950 model.

I just received my February 2018 issue of Shutterbug Magazine, and noticed on page 73, that a nice B&W photo of a Chevy Car is listed as a 1954 model. It looks more like an earlier model to me. Am I wrong? Taken by a Graflex 22 camera.

I don't know how many comments and photographs you have to see to still think it's a '51. Do you live in Canada maybe? Because there's often a difference in model years and options between the US cars, and the equivalent Canadian models

51 had oblong parking lights with pointed outer ends the lights in the OP are round. The OP is a 1950 model.

That is either a 49 or a 50, my first car was a 49 Chevy coupe. The main difference between them is the trunk handle and the taillights.
