Just a thought, Guys ... what camera do you think Santa Claus will use, to take pictures of his reindeer, before setting out, tonight?

Really, JPL?

Your vision of Santa is really up-to-date, then ...

Got a model number in mind, there, JPL?

No ... no SR71s on the roof ... but I can smell fresh reindeer droppings nearby ....

Only thing to've landed on MY roof overnight is a fresh 4" of snow ...

But, then - you probably don't even know what that is - in Hawaii, do you, Al?

It's dry precipitate matter which forms in the clouds on colder days ... and when the clouds get so heavy with it, they can't hold it, anymore - it drops ....

So, now ... on Christmas Day ... I have TWO kinds of fresh droppings to deal with ....

Actually, Al ... when I heard the sleigh bells in the distance ... I went outside and yelled: "I don't care WHO you are, get those reindeer off my roof!!!"

Merry Christmas, Al ....
You've gotta be in Hawaii, huh, Al? br br No ... ... (show quote)

Nope, Chris. I'm sentenced to New Jersey.
.

Fell in love with Hawaii with my first trip in 1980 and never shook it off. Lost track on the number of trips back "home". Collect and wear Aloha shirts and haven't been seen in anything else for over 30 years. (You should see the reaction after a snow - all hot from shoveling, take off my coat, hop in the car and get some very strange stares from other drivers on the road. )

With the cold winds blowing right now - you know where I'd rather be.

Now, if that SR-71 had landed on your roof, you could have siphoned off some of that jet fuel, spread it down your driveway, lit a match and saved yourself digging out.

And, have set fire to my whole property, in the process, most likely!!!

New Jersey, huh? ... Did you get 4" of fresh snow, overnight, too?

I have a bunch of Hawaiian shirts, somewhere, too ... got 'em for a ridiculously low price, if I remember, rightly, too - it was just before K-Mart closed out ....

They're fun to wear in the summer ... but, in the winter ... I mostly wear Golf Shirts, with T's .... like to stay warm ....

Enjoy your Christmas Day, Al ...

Well, thanks, Al ... trying to keep away the depression blues ... for having nobody with whom to share this Christmas - staying connected, here - sure helps!

You, too ... enjoy your Christmas Day ...

Where abouts were you when you were in NJ?

I've been here way to long and looking to move on soon.

Me, Al ?

Never lived in New Jersey ... but I do have a couple of Aunts and Uncles, there ... one's in Montclair ... the other one - not sure, anymore ... think he moved ... but he used to be in Dumont, I think ... is there such a place?

When I traveled with Olan Mills ... I stayed in motels on the road, all the time - all over New Jersey, plus upstate NY, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, NH, VT, too.

We were usually at a location for a long weekend - would drive there on a Tuesday or Wednesday, set up ... and be ready for a four-day shoot .... very tiring!!!

Well you know, Chris, as Santa makes his own toys, I gotta believe he will use one that we have not yet heard of?? Probably part of his practical toy testing program.

Make sense???

Well, I guess Santa has just about packed t all up for the year.

I just hope the camera elf didn't forget to load whatever camera was used.

It's a long year for the next shot.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Flight!

Insman - why do you feel the need to be so patronizing?

Can't you see it's a simple question?

It just asks what everyone (everyone IS Santa Claus - don't you get it?) .... would prefer for a camera ...

Last night, while I was reading UHH, I heard a lot of shouting, and then on the roof, some prancing and pawing of a wholelot of hooves, then a thud that shook the building. I tried to decide whether to grab a camera or a Colt. I finally chose the latter because of its tritium night sights. As I ran from the front door, I could see a bunch of caribou relieving themselves on my roof. There was a sleigh and some dumpy looking character, apparently looking for a chimney or other opening to the room way below (which would have put him in the attic (where this thread will go). In addition, he was smoking a pipe in a non-smoking area. I fired a warning shot into the ground, but he took his own sweet time getting back to the sleigh, so I put three rounds into the big bag in the back of his sleigh. This speeded him up, encouraging him to spring to his sleigh and whistle to his team. Away they all flew, like a cat with its tail on fire. But I heard him exclaim, as he tore out of site, some words that should not be repeated on a family forum. As he passed over a street light, I did see one hand raised with a finger (not sure which one) pointedup. He must have removed a mitten for that. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to call maintenance to clean off the roof!

Very funny, Bill ...

er - you didn't fall off the wagon, did you?

If so - don't worry ... call out to Santa ... most likely, he'll come back and pick you up, with his sleigh ... just don't seat yourself immediately behind any reindeer ... okay?

Merry Christmas, Bill ....

Probably, Al ... it's all over now, huh?

I suspect he might well have used a Sony alpha a5100 ... doesn't need loading as it's digital ... small, compact, light, and uses all alpha E lenses ...

Plus, it has a tilting Touch-Screen ... AND - a 24.3MP Sensor ... and is relatively inexpensive - just $548 with a 16-50 lens ... can get in nice and tight with that ... Rudolph likes nice tight shots of his red nose .... Hope you had a great Christmas, Al ... g'nite!

Come to think of it, I think I did hear glass break with the second shot at the sack. I know at that range, I had a tight group. Should have shot one of the caribou instead; properly dressed and hung, they make good eating. Just don’t over cook them.
