Brilliant advice regarding getting to know my D750

In another post concerning getting to know one's D750 I asked for recommendations as I, too, was way, way behind in getting to know my D750. JD750 responded (in part): "Sit down and read the manual, from page 1 to the end, with the camera in your lap."

So that's exactly what I have been doing and it has been inspiring me.

Thank you, SD! Here are some results of your advice. (All unprocessed apart from cropping.)

The first four from a group of photos of autumnal scenes from around our property and the last one taken of a ornament that we have alongside our wood stove in the living room.

Wait two weeks then do it all over again. You will be surprised what you have skipped over the first time.

And then, one more time (at least).
Digital cameras now have so many options and abilities.

Looks to me like you are on your way to mastering the D750. Bought mine in 2016 after a trip to Yellowstone NP at which I regretted not spending $500 on a GoPro so i could shoot video of the geysers. I had a D700 w/o video and have since bought a D750 for its video capability. My health has since taken a downturn and I am a long way from going afield without taking the owners manual along. So, my advice is what you already have--go someplace on a nice day where you can read the manual with your camera in you lap and one eye out for a potential target. I remember learning my first Nikon F in an hour and I can still do that with a non-electronic film camera but I don't think anyone can do that with a DSLR today.

I chuckled when I read your response just now. For I am at the stage in life where I blink twice and forget where I put the camera down! But at least in two weeks the User Guide will be new read for me! (Partially kidding!)

Thanks Bud, and all the best to you health-wise.

I have a red sculpture of the sighthound contemporary ceramic on my slate great room table next to one with greyhound contemporary of a greyhound from Jonathan Adler collection and love them both. Had greyhound rescues for 11 years and now own a pair of fabulous 5 year old Borzoi's. Love the contemporary art work.

Hi Paul,
Another good thing about advancing years that I've noticed is the TV sure has a lot less reruns than it used to! Take care & ...

Jeannie reminded me that we saw that greyhound ceramic in a resale shop when we were living in Payson, AZ. We are sort of into dogs, moving here from Payson in 2012 with 12 dogs! Unfortunately, only 6 dogs still with us as we all get older by the day!

Enjoy the ceramic sighthound sculpture...it is nice. I have a greyhound jonathan adler white sculpture of a greyhound that was a gift from a then girlfriend plus the one above of a larger sighthound in deep cranberry red...side by side. I've had greyhound rescues for 11 years and now for 4 years have a pair of show Borzoi who are larger, more intelligent and into more aspects of your life which as a widower I love as they are now my day to day company and go nearly everywhere with me.
