From last night using a Canon 200mm L lens at f/3.2 with a QHY 183C CCD, no filters, no guiding.

44x2 min. subs captured in SharpCap, preprocessed in PixInsight, postprocessed in Lightroom.

This is not my favorite camera for DSO's; normally used for planetary, lunar and solar BUT it didn't do too bad a job on this target...

Enjoy!

Thanks, but not happy with the stars; sort of like 'pee holes in a snowbank'! I can do better, much better...

Brian,
Just trying to understand, as i am getting into astrophotography, a novice at it, did you mount the 200mm on the QHY or on a telescope with a canon camera??? Were the images taken with QHY or the Canon??? Did you use a telescope???
What was the size of scope???
I'm asking these ??? to learn how and what to use...
Thanks

The QHY 183C camera was mounted on the Canon 200mm L lens with a Geoptik adapter (https://optcorp.com/products/teleskop-service-geoptik-adapter-for-eos-to-t2-thread-w-0-25-tripod-foot-30a189) which has a built-in tripod foot. There are other similar adapters available that allow you to use a 2" filter in the configuration but I haven't found one that is as solid as the Geoptik unit.

Subs shot through the Canon 200mm lens using the QHY 183C CCD. No telescope or Canon camera (I no longer have a Canon body) involved for this imaging session. Similar to setup below.

Enjoy!
