I just bought a refurb. 80D from Canon. It looks and preforms like new except for leaving this small smudge in the left center of this image. It's present in another image using a different lens. Any ideas ? Thanks....

That sucks. One might expect it on a personal sale but on refurbished one would think the sensor would not be the problem. I get maybe a similar smudge when I use a older 300mm lens that's got a bit of dirt and lint in it. But it doesn't happen with a good 300mm. But that sure looks like a sensor problem. Have you tried several lenses and a white screen to evaluate? Maybe you could email the photo to Canon customer service and see what they say. But then I'm sure the people here will be able to help. My 1 cent worth.

"I just bought a refurb. 80D from Canon." I would call canon and have them fix it. You just bought it.
I don't think a smudge on a lens would look like that. More than likely it is dust on the sensor. But you could be right if it doesn't show up with a different lens.
Gene, in the OP, the op mentioned that it happened with another lens as well.
