My daughter makes jewelry and charms and such out of polymer clay. She is going to be part of a X'mas craft fair in Nov. I am trying to take some GOOD photos of her creations. The photos are not there yet but working on it.
I would love any insight on making the photos better. I have an Olympus w/ 14/42mm lense. I know I need to try again to correct the white balance.

well...I have loads of jewelry which I make myself...but also lots of other jewelry...mainly simple stuff that tickles my fancy but not a lot of reallly expensive stuff.
Here's a pic of the barrettes I make...learned how to do it from a native friend. Also a pic of an opal I bought while in wisconsin..but my grandma used to say.."you never buy your own opal...its bad luck if you do..it must always be a gift to you"...so Ill probably give the opal to my sister whose birthday is in October.

p16 Just splendid, WW. The kind of things I wear - when I wear jewelry :) And you captured them perfectly, of course. How long would it take you to make, for example, #1?

So much jewelry, so little time - and I rarely wear it. And, I have never ever taken pictures of jewelry so this was an interesting challenge for me. I wanted them in a "natural" environment as much as possible. These are either favorites or ones I have questions about. Some were from my Aunt who died a couple years ago in her 90s. She was a nightclub singer.

p16 Some times rock walls come in handy :)

Beautiful pieces, Pat. There is nothing like handmade jewelry. The stones in the earrings look like lapis to me. They look very blue. I know malachite is very green but it's hard to tell from the picture. And I love sea glass - your sister did a really nice job :P :P

p16 Now that you mention it, yes, the earrings are lapis. My sister has gone from delicate jewelry to forging iron! She is some talented gal.

Well, I am a bit worried about Photogrl, here it is just after 9pm pst and she has not been on since this morning. I hope you don't have another migraine Sher! Everyone has sifted out the jewelry/animal sculptures and it was fun. I think it is hard for some of us to take pictures on the day of the event but I am trying. It doesn't always work.
Today we had severe thunder and lighting storms, very unusual for this part of the country. Over 200 lighting strikes just here and we are hoping there are no forest fires but everything is so wet this year on the West side of the Washington State mountains that I doubt there will be a problem. Some power outages and our dogs seemed pretty cool with the whole thing although our neighbors dog freaked out. Our cats are oblivious to any noises, must be the dogs influence. LOL!

Here are a few pieces, you all have some wonderful photos of your stuff and of animal scupltures. Love them all!
