Here are a couple of yarns about Phyllis, boundary rider on the dingo fence. Salt of the earth lady.
Oops..the newspaper article didn't work. There are articles about her online if you care to look, she's
Phyllis Ploenges boundary rider.
Thanks so much Texcaster, great clips. I love Sara Storer singing "Children of the Gurindji". That newspaper article about Phyllis is the one I couldn't post, so thanks.

Harsh country, and living in it is continually made more difficult by politicians and their bureaucratic masters. Almost impossible for Aussie farmers to have their handgun licenses renewed, thereby making it very difficult, if not impossible, for them to humanely terminate the brutally savaged sheep and lambs that are victims of dingo attacks.
Australian regulators are paranoid that US shooting massacres will be repeated locally. Hence the regulations, and I doubt if they have ever considered how many US farmers are involved in gun massacres. The Dingo Fence is, unfortunately, not 100% effective. Very difficult for farmers to patrol their properties on motorbike, with a rifle as their sole means of terminating dingo savaged sheep and lambs. A handgun was the only sensible solution. Meanwhile, criminals still appear to have unlimited access to handguns! You just have to love bureaucrats, hey? And this from one of them who saw the light!

I have to agree Pacman. I was brought up on a property out west of Goondiwindi and my brother still owns it. We didn't have much of a dingo problem, more wild pigs that caused havoc in lambing season. No handguns out there, just a .22, .303 or 410 shotgun. I only know one person who owns a handgun, and he's a collector.
