Great series! We are frequent visitors ourselves living on the Central Coast and only 5 hours away. I know exactly where you were standing for many of your fine images. Thanks for sharing.

One of our favorite spots is Yosemite National Park. We visit at least once a season and sometimes two, since it's just about a 5-6 hr drive. My favorite time is when its snowing or just recently snowed. The park takes on a very different character in the winter than other times. Here are a few of my more recent winter images from the park. We are headed to the Rockies for Christmas, but then to Yosemite as soon as we get back, assuming there's snow.

All gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing.

Your images are all so beautiful and professional looking! Looking at your moonrise over Bridal Veil Falls photo makes me think of Ansel Adams.

Thanks everyone for looking and for all your kind comments. There's nothing better than sharing your experiences with others. Hope you all get a change to visit the park and enjoy it as much as I have. Thank-you.

Like many others here, I have seen many, many pictures of this magical place. Few, if any, do a better job conveying the beautiful and majesty as do yours!

All of them are really beautiful. I'm curious about the moon shot. Seems the light is coming from the wrong direction. Is this a double exposure or a composite?

Thank you for sharing your fantastic shots. They all could easily be hanging on walls for all to admire. Beautiful collection.

Hi fotoman150,

Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Yes, this is a composite, sort of. It is a re-creation of the existing scene I were trying to photograph. This scene was impossible to get SOOC, at least with the equipment I had. The DR of the scene far exceeded the DR of my camera (Sony a7m2), but not the eye. I knew from TPE the location and time the moon would rise over the falls. I setup early and waited until the moon was well above the horizon. I needed a moon image at one exposure and a second of the falls as a different exposure. I captured the moon properly exposed. However, Cathedral Rocks and the falls were a problem. The exposure needed to get any details in the landscape resulted in the bright moon blowing everything out. Lens flare was also a problem at these long exposure times while looking into the bright moon. What I needed but didn’t have was a hard-edge graduated ND filter to block to moonlight.

I did, however, have the images to recreate the scene. I had a good moon capture. I also had a good capture of the falls from earlier in the morning, taken at the same location and FL. Not a perfect solution but the morning shadows were much closer to the moon shadows than the evening shots taken during setup. I blended the images together in PS with some dodging and burning recreating the actual scene as closely as possible. So yes its a composite just recreating the actual scene.
