Some changes after critics.

I think you're right about cropping out the car on the left. Personally, I would leave the light on the right. It adds to the evening effect and explains the source of light coming from being the couple. Just my preference.

My final image after all comments. More suggestions, please.
Thanks!
Nice final edit
Here are some additional comments just based on my personal preferences. Your image has come out very nice. I'm not a fan of overly saturated images and this edit is more to my liking. The crop made a dramatic improvement, isolating the subject. I think the starburst on the lamps are OK but, for my taste, it's a little strong. Also with the strong lamp light, I would expect to see light cast onto the sidewalk and street under the lamps. I suspect that light was there but not picked up very well by the camera. My preferences only, others may differ.
Very nice evolution of this image.

I don’t like your first one, it is way over done. I like your second one because it looks real life to me. IMHO

Am I the only one that thinks getting rid of the car behind and / or cropping closer would make a better version? (and getting rid of the light on the right edge?)
No. Cropping out the modern vehicle (at minimum) and perhaps even some of the building would enhance the pic by bringing the focus on that great old Beetle. Otherwise, I kind of like it before enhancement but I've got a thing for those old Beetles.
