Without the engine noise, could you hear howling wind?

In a glider/sailplane you will hear it - and the faster you go, the louder it gets - but in a passenger plane, I doubt if you would hear it over the screaming...

"This is your pilot speaking. We are going to shut off the engines because someone on UHH wants to know if you can hear the wind noise. Breathe normally. "
Great article, Jerry. Sounds are right on. Made a landing at Columbus Ohio once that was VERY smooth. Thanked the pilot for such a great landing, his reply was all landings are great. If it is a great one he was flying, if it was rough he would say the co-pilot was flying. We all had a good laugh at that one.

I had a pilot tell me that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, and if you can use the airplane again it was a great landing.

In the event of a total engine failure, the howling of the passengers would drown out any amount of wind noise.
