This lens was found in with some photo equipment after a friend died this past spring. It does not fit any of the cameras he left ( Sony or Nikon ).Any one know what mount this is?

actually do not know, but if it looks like a lens, acts like a lens, works like a lens, well, it must be a lens....It would help if you put a picture of the object with your question. LOL.

Looks a lot like the minolta/sony a mount. As in "that's it".

Edit: Forgot to mention that it is the original minolta version which they updated to an 8 pin connection shortly before being aquired by sony.

Hard to tell for sure, but it appears much like the old Pentax bayonet mount.

I'm guessing a Minolta autofocus lens. Based on the pins. I believe these came after the older version Minolta manual lenses?

That's an odd photo to post to try and identify a lens. How about showing the sides and front of the lens? Isn't there anything printed on the lens to identify it?

If you want to know what it is, it is a Sigma lens. You want the mount type? Simple, read the lens model on the side of the body and google it. 'Sigma ~model~'.

Something else, this is in the wrong section.

Its a Sigma lens in Minolta A Mount. It will fit the Sony non-mirrorless cameras as well.

Thanks for your help in identifying the lens mount. Since it does not have the eight pin connections it must’ve the older version.

I would forget about the lens mount and will look at some ID on the lens that will show on what camera it will fit.
By looking at a lens mount it is practically impossible to tell the lens type and what camera it fits.

Wrong....I know that it is a Sigma 100-300 and there are no other markings to indicate what camera it will fit. I think that others on this thread have it right it is a Minolta/Sony A mount.
