I would like to sell a lens, and buy another. I have a DX "normal" zoom and wish to buy a FX.
Does anyone have an idea of where to go to do this. ? My local camera store is not interrested. Listing on Craig's has not generated any results.
THanks in advance for any ideas.

KEH both buys and sells gear. They are a reliable dealer in the view of most on the UHH forum.

B&H has made it easy for me a couple times.

Another possibility is right here on the UHH “Members Buy/Sell/Trade - Classifieds”. Click on “All Sections” at the bottom of this page and scroll down to join that section.

No one is going to make a DX for FX trade, except a reseller who will do a trade-in ....

Try selling it on Amazon. Most of the photo retailers, B&H, KEH, Adorama, will give you a pittance. It's easy to sell to them, but I have gotten a lot less from them that I finally got selling through Amazon. I've had good luck with Amazon and gotten a very decent price for what I have sold. Big difference is that you can't offer a warranty.

Pitman Photo in Miami does trades as does Hunts in New Hampshire. I have a trade working at Hunts at this time.

If you are willing to pay the seller fee's, ebay is a good forum in the auction format to sell used lenses. I as well as many others have realized good success in turning lenses. Just recently I sold 2 lenses on ebay which sold for what the market was dictating.
Best of luck.

Sounds like you have a 18-55mm DX kit lens. They are a dime a dozen so will not have much value against any FX lens purchase. If your local store offerred nothing there had to be a good reason, condition is a huge value determining issue as they will have to re-sell the lens at a profit. If they feel it has little to no resell value they simply will not be interested. Sounds a bit like you are expecting way too much for your kit lens if Craigslist had no results. Research its value on sites like KEH and B&H, their offers will be about half what they are selling them for. Good luck.

No, it is a 16-85 DX and I want a similar FX. The condition on the DX is excellent; only used for about an hour last May. Half of retail is $350.00 and I would be happy with that.
I also have you what you reference as the 18-55 "kit" lens that I have had for over a decade (came with my D50). Not selling because I have a ton of 52 mm special filters (from my film camera 40 yrs ago) that I like to experiment with for special effects.

You've gotten a lot of good suggestions, but what is a normal zoom?

Not wide angle, and not telephoto. 16-85 is my current DX. In the old days of film cameras, that was called "normal." Sorry if my terminology is not up to date.
I have a FX 28-300. I wish to get a wider zoom, maybe 16-35, also FX.
