thanks - I didn't know that - very useful.
Thank you! I just deleted my hyperfocal app from my cell phone.
But then again....Usually Infinity is calculated at a factor times onethousand...as in : 50 mm x 1000 = 50 meter ...and that is where the lens is at Optimal Rendition ,
I read that article. Interesting. Thanks for posting it. As with all tools understanding how they work and their limits is necessary. Sometimes that is phrased "the devil is in the details".
I'm surprised at what the knee jerk responses. Or maybe I'm not surprised. But to simply delete the DOF app is throwing out the baby with the bath water.
Thanks for sharing this, Bob.
Yeah, me too! I found early on that these charts were basically useless. To overcome this, I did a lot of reading and experimentation (this is where digital vs. film came in handy for me). Now I simply know what I want and what to do.
One could carry a "slide rule" with them to take photos! I really wish that I could count upon what I see in my viewfinder to be what the photo will look like! BTW there is usually a fair amount of variability to the infinity on your manual focus ring. Particularly with a metal lens the effect of ambient temperature can be a great deal.
