Actually, Sony's Carl Zeiss lenses are great. Fujifilm makes some great lenses. Olympus and Panasonic make a decent range of pro glass, and a decent range of "entry level" lenses. Canon and Nikon make great glass. And there are some third party lenses such as Sigma ART lenses and the high end Tamrons and Tokinas that are quite nice.
You mostly do get what you pay for. A $350 lens is not going to perform like a $1350 lens in the same mount. It may be fine, but the more expensive lens will add subtleties the cheaper lens can't match.
(That example is a 42.5mm f/1.7 Lumix vs. 42.5mm f/1.2 Leica by Lumix. Using both lenses at f/2, the Leica is way better. You get about a stop more light wide open, and oodles of better bokeh at the same wide to medium apertures (f/2.8 to f/5.6 on Micro 4/3).
I use Panny, but Oly makes great stuff, too. Panas... (

Yes, but you're paying through the nose for those differences ... after all, who can even TOUCH Leica optics?
Obviously I've got too many...just realized that I forgot the Nikon 70-300. All of this paraphernalia now requires me to have a backpack for it to hold this listed equipment and the other accessories. Now I have to choose what I'm likely to use on any given day and put those choices in a Nikon camera bag with the 50mm 1.8 and whatever I'll guess that I'm going to need for the day. :(

The majority of smaller kit bags, FCH ... are made for fairly small kits - perhaps one body with lens, and three spares (macro, tele, UWA) and perhaps a flash unit. They are the very most common sizes. So even if you have oodles of glass, the bag makers expect you to pare it down to the basic changes, for most purposes. Unless, you have a gig - where you KNOW damned well you need that ultra-fast ultra-heavy extreme UWA-Z or tele-zoom.

Sadly, the only one that fits your criteria of "everyday" and "basic" is the crappy lens in on the camera in my iPhone

I don't have a basic kit. I have a kit. A couple of bodies and around a dozen lenses to cover everything I need. What I take with me on any given day may vary. Of the dozen, the four I use the most, in no particular order, are the Canon 35mm f/2 IS ISM, the Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS USM, the Canon 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, and the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 ART. The Sigma is the sharpest across the frame, and is a great low light zoom, but it is big, and at almost 30 ounces, heavy. The single lens I use the most is the Canon 35mm f/2 IS USM, my personal all around favorite focal length on a crop body.

You can never have too much glass, FCH ...
You never know when something might come in handy .... don't mess with your lens kit ... it's vital!

My Basic lens kit includes and 18-55 , 75-300 both (kit lenses) and a 2x I need to pay off the Canon 7D body, before I start replacing Lenses.

You use a 2x tele with a Canon 75- 300? I'd be really curious to see one of your images.
