Hi,
Nikon D610 Pictures black w/flash on TTL
Nikon Yongnuo 568ex
It happens on all mode. Picture is black, but it's dark, as if the flash wouldn't flash.
Auto, Shutter priority, Aperture priority, Manual.
I tried changing flash sync speed in menus, from 1/60 to 1/200 same result. Manual and multi modes works somewhat but not TTL
Rear curtain and red eye is off. What am I not doing? This has happened to me once before but I figured it out for myself. Now, urgency and I can't fix the problem.
Aperture : F4 etc,
Shutter speed : 1/60 etc,
Exposure Mode : Manual
Flash Sync Mode : Front Curtain
Flash Mode : Optional, iTTL-
Flash Exposure Comp : 0EV etc,
WB: Flash
ISO: Various, then at 6400, I finally get a tungsten looking image, but still too dark.

Hi, br Nikon D610 Pictures black w/flash on TTL br... (

The flash isn't firing. Clean the contacts and if that doesn't work its defective or a camera defect.
OK, thanks for the reply.
But the flash is firing. Although, it sounds like it’s firing out of sync. When I shoot with the multi mode and manual mode it pops with good results, but not TTL. I have cleaned the contacts.
Do you gat any results at all using the built in flash? If yes then the Yongnuo unit is suspect.
Yes the built-in flash works fine.
I guess I’ll use the Yongnuo as a back up.
Thanks to all!

Using the assumption that you have the Nikon version of the yn568, and that you are trying to use the flash in the camera's hotshoe, I will ask, is it correctly seated? If the smaller contacts do not line up properly, it may still fire due to the large center contact, but ttl will not work.
To see if ttl functions properly on the flash, you might also set it up off-camera in "Nikon remote" mode in i-ttl. Then trigger it with your pop-up in CMD mode. If flash ttl works off- camera there is likely a communication problem between flash foot and camera hotshoe.
How far away is your subject? Inverse square law. Light drops off really fast as your distance from the subject gets larger.
