Leif Erikson was here before Columbus and Saint Brendan was here before Erikson.

Today is Leif Erikson Day for the guy who really discovered America (not Columbus). Perhaps your old friend Leif (pronounced Life) was related?

Wikipedia: Leif Erikson Day is an annual American observance which occurs on October 9.[1] It honors Leif Erikson (Old Norse: Leifr Eiríksson, Icelandic: Leifur Eiríksson, Norwegian: Leiv Eiriksson), the Norse explorer who led the first Europeans thought to have set foot in continental North America[2][3][4] (Greenland excluded).

And the American Indians were here before Saint Brendan.

St. Brendan was here before both Erikson and Columbus.

Leif did not discover America. Yes he got there before Columbus, but he most decidedly did not discover it.

Are there any Minolta 35mm film die-hards out in the world aside from me? I have a small collection of these babies and found through time and beaucoup rolls, that even having added simple digital Canons, I want to jump back into my true love. All of my "Minoltas are Minolta, not Konica Minolta, though I did use up a couple of Konicas "back-in-the-day". I am currently searching the web for the winder/drives. Any suggestions?

You may want to look at Blue Moon Camera and Machine and contact them about what they have. Their website is https://bluemooncamera.com/

They do only film.

Please tell us who St. Brendan was and about his exploits, if you can.

Hmmm the winder went out on my Maxumm too. It still works and the film does advances too. I tried removing the film from the camera open the spool and rewind by hand in complete darkness and it worked. Gonna experiment with using the Maxumm for black and white portraits

Three words: ebay, ebay, and ebay. Also, I Googled it and came up with this:

Good luck,

Keh.com
eBay

Might need to be patient, for some of the less common items.

I've got a few Minolta in my collection... a couple SLRs and several rangefinders. Also have most of the Konica cameras and lenses ever produced. But most of my collection pre-dates autofocus and I have no Konica-Minolta (which are all basically relabelled Minolta, since Konica had discontinued SLRs in the 1980s and largely exited the camera business by the time they merged in 2003.... then sold much of the remaining business off to Sony in 2006).

That's a great lens . That extra light @1.2f also means you have a very expensive piece of glass there . The 1.4f can be bought for $100.00 and under . The 1.2f if in excellent condition can get you around $450.00 . I've seen them higher too . MINOLTA built lenses for LEICA with their glass . That says something ..

So what you think a Minolta XK with the 58mm f/1.2 MC would be worth?

Minimum 500.00 , I would think . If in excellent condition probably closer to 700.00 . The 1.2f is a very expensive lens . But still a bargain compared to a new AF 1.2f !
Check EBay . Good luck .
Superb glass !

I have several Minoltas including an XK SRT101 and two X700's. Ebay is a great resource for Minlota cameras and accessories. I recently
bought an X700 outfit for my sister it came with motordrive and two lenses for about $150.00. Picked up a motor drive for one of my X-700s so I didn't have to keep switching between bodies. Prices for film cameras on Ebay are pennies on the dollar. Still shoot all of my Minoltas. Some Hoggers complain about weight with a DSLR but take a X 700 with motordrive and 100-300 lens and 2x convertor makes my Canon T5 with 100-300 and 1.4 convertor feel like a feather weight.

I had an Autocord I (that I regretfully sold many years ago.) I still have an SRT-101 in my collection.
