Those are all beautiful shots, but your white spider blows me away.

Yes, and No. For the artist or someone who captures moments in time with the camera, death takes on a different perspective. I was sorting images recently, and was noticing the amount of death in some images I have taken. The initial reaction wasn't about the topic of death, because it surrounds us all the time, but how we perceive death and the way we present it to others. Anyway, I have included a few images to illustrate the wonders in nature, even though they are representative of death. Enjoy

The shot of the butterflies and the spider web got me thinking about this when I was in the field. The one butterfly was caught in the web and as I was shooting, the other was attracted to the imprisoned subject (possibly as a mate) when I secured the shot. This was one out of several that caught the second one in flight as it passed by the victim in the web.

Thanks S-C. I have often wondered, as I view other's work, the motivation behind the choice of subject and they way they chose to represent it. With most photographers, it is pretty obvious they are recording something that they have found slithering or flitting by. They are attracted by the chase and challenge of the capture, whiles others just want to record something pretty.

Events in nature unfold before your eyes and often there is only moments to make decisions, that is what I find interesting.

Anyway. Thanks for the comments. Everyone here on this site is very kind with their comments regarding my captures. I enjoy sharing them with all of you, because you make it fun for me.

#3 for me. I think it's wonderful to produce a photo where people "discover" things. It took me a while to realize just what was going on in the photo. Good work.

Beauty in death:

Robinson Jeffers said it best - "Beauty is not always lovely," from Fire in the Hills.

...I think Sleeping Beauty would be a better title...they don’t die...they just fall asleep until the kiss of spring...these are beautiful...here on the east coast I’m wondering if we will have a nice fall...it’s been too warm so far and not much color...

I enjoy captures of this species. They come in many colors, depending upon the habitat. Thanks
