Last weekend was socially exhausting as leisure activities started Friday afternoon and lasted almost without a break until Sunday.
Since my UHH colleague from Boston does not put photos of his trips from Slovenia online anymore, I would try to fill in the gap. Might be I will be able to encourage him to return back here?
Some think that Slovenia is worthy of admiration, but I add that it is also a country of great food and drinks (wine and beer). Last but not least, the French shot our vineyard hills and photoshopped them in their official travel guide
Not to be too long, let's go to the latest events in Maribor, second biggest town in Slovenia! Visit the International beer festival and Harvest of the Old Wine!
Last Friday afternoon, even those who don’t count beer as the first beverage were attracted to the Main Square.
And many stayed late in the night, then Saturday day and night ...
Actually, it shouldn’t be strange, as this was a macro fair of micro breweries.
But the center of the city awaited the first Sunday morning pedestrians cleaned and fresh.
A narrow street leads to the place of the second event.
Maribor is the home of The Old Vine, the oldest fruitful vine in the world (over 400 years old!). Harvesting always attracts people from near and far.
Before the vine was “attacked”…
… and after the professionals from nearby village started picking grapes.
The event is enriched by farmers from villages nearby Maribor who offer home-grown products ...
… musts, wine, potica cake and fruits.

Nice captures. Thanks or the tour.
excellent series; I'm impressed with the size of the crowds at this event..I think, but then, it IS beer and wine! And certainly the center of town appears immaculate on Sunday morning!

How fun! Very traditional. Reminds me of the annual Blueberry Festival in downeast Maine. A harvest-time celebration!

Traditional, yes! "You know, once upon a time, when there still was..." is the beginning of so many fairy tales that stay deep within us.

Thank you. I know what I should expect there already in advance, but I still bring my family to the venue ;-)
