I paid $149 for the Nik collection. IMO that was a great price.

This was a regular color photo that I edited with Silver Efex Pro 2.
I find these editors to be fun and a great way to keep the creativity going when I can't be out shooting.
I wish someone would come up with a Clyde Butcher style editor, not that would be some software.

If it is not supported, why use it? Quit using anything from google.

because it works and works well. If and when it dies, find you something different.

Your opinion of Google is of no value.

I have been using the NIK collection for years. Before it was free. I use all of the apps but dfine 2.0 is the best noise reducer I have found. I first used them with GIMP and now PS & sometimes LR. Just watched a 15 min video last week on the dfine app that illustrates how to apply the utility selectively in the image. I never bothered with that but it is good to know. The brush option in PS may give you a bit of grieve but it still works. Some folks have been having a challenge sine the last PS update. I use all of the apps. Thousands of filter effects are just waiting. Almost forgot I use Dfine as a batch process in PS too. Some of my shots require high ISO so the Dfine app comes in handy.

I have been reading the whole thread and I feel sorry for the Mac users with the last update. I suspect part of the issue is also the update to PS last time as I have some issues with NIK in Win 10 too. Have any Mac users tried running the NIK apps in stand alone? I found a work around in using the Brush option so perhaps you can find a way to continue to work with NIK outside of PS or LR.

Once the program is open, you can use the standard "File/Open"

Always work on a copy to avoid permanently changing the original.

File Open only works for some of the members of the NIK collection. Dfine, Sharpener Pro, and Viveza have no File Open function.

Thanks. I guess I never tried them ... or forgot.

I use the NIK collection in conjunction with Photoshop Elements 15.

You can place the Nik apps separately in the dock on a Mac to use them as standalone apps. Best two duplicate and save another file first. Then simply move the image icon down to the dock to open in one of the Nik apps.
