I am shooting with a Canon EOS 5D and have really been satisfied with my pics. Not perfect but not bad. I use a Canon 28-105 for most of my shooting and have a Canon 50mm 1.8 and a Canon 75-300. I am wanting to purchase a very wide angle lense and am trying to make up my mind. I will probably not purchase a Canon, and am trying to determine the best for the dollar lense to buy. Any input would be helpful. :?
You might want to take a look at the Tokina 10-17. I don't own one but have heard some good things about it.

Interesting that the first suggestion I receive is the very lense I am considering. Any other thoughts by other members??
You may want to look at the Sigma 10-20.
I certainly wouldn't buy something other than a Canon for your 5D. Just my own experiences with poor focus performance on non-Canon optics. For me, the 14mm Canon f2.8 II is darn hard to beat. It is simply a fantastic wide-angle lens for full-frame. For crop sensor, it is hard to beat the Canon EFS 10-22.
Have a Tamron 17-50 2.8 that pretty much stays on camera until I get the 70-200. Good lens and good price.

I also have the Tamron 17-50 2.8 and think it's a great lens. The op said a really wide lens was needed. With a crop facor of approx 25-75 it may not suit the needs.

I have this lens I am happy with it. It got good reviews, I don't see much if any distortion. I think it was a good choice solid build feels good to work with. bring your camera to the store and try the lens choices you narrow it down to. Be happy

Just bought the tokina great lens, pull the trigger you wont be sorry.
I posted a similar post the other day asking about the same - I choose the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 for my Canon 7D from B & H....just waiting for its arrival.
I shoot w/ a NIKON D200 and have the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. I am very satisfied as this lens is well built and produces wonderful image quality. I highly recommend it.
