For photo printing or general printing?
For photo printing, I prefer the Canon Pro-100.
For general printing, I prefer the HP Office Jet Pro 8620.

What do you print? Any cheap printer will print office documents.
If you want to print real photos on real photo paper, look at photo printers from Canon and Epson. They generally use six or more inks for wide gamut photo reproduction.
Dye ink printers yield a bit more color brilliance, but pigment inks last much longer. Go to the Canon and Epson web sites and compare. But buy through B&H or Adorama. Watch for rebates and special deals.

I would look at Epson printers. Canon printers are supposed to be real good too.
Look at the cost of the toner for lasers and ink for inkjet. I agree that for photos the Canon Pixma Pro-100 is amazing, and available at very good prices for some reason. It is larger and heavier than some ink-jet photo printers but if you have a place to put it, I think you would like it a lot! It will also do general printing for sure.
Had Epson printers for years...wonderful!
I use a Samsung printer for all but pictures. It is a good cheep printer to run (the printer was about the cost of a cartridge that is about 8"x 3"a d lasts for ever). For photos I just went from a Epson 1400 to a Canon 1000. I print enough to look at ink costs. Both a great picture quality but the larger cartridge size in the 1000 is more cost effective. PS I think the Canon is better BUT COST OF PRINTER IS A FACTOR,
I've used Epson for years.

I really like my HP lazer printer-- expensive but I don't have to mess around with ink and clogs, etc.
I've been using an Epson SureColor P600 for about two years. From the outset, it was "plug-and-play." It gets along beautifully with my nine year-old iMac. It gives me gorgeous prints and very reasonable ink consumption. I don't know the difference between my machine and the P800, but I've heard good things about them also.
I just purchased a Canon Pixma PRO-10
Prints 13 x 19 prints & 10 ink cartridges.
On Sale, normal $599, less $50 instant and $250 mail in rebate Gift Card. Plus a 50 sheet pack of 13 x 19 luster paper. End cost is $200. Prints amazing color and incredible Black & White. To me a great deal. Also, bought 10 pack of cartridges, Not CANON, from 123inkjets.com for $124, free freight.
They work great and are guaranteed.
Hope this helps.
