Are there any new TSA Photo Equip updates?
Returned from Vancouver BC Sept 2 and no problem either way with carry on equipment. Checked bag was opened returning probably because of the tripod inside. /George

Wouldn't it be better to check with the TSA, rather than UHH?

It may depend on how bored you are.
Went to Europe and back last month with all carry on and had no problems.

Nothing new since mid July as far as I am aware.

Not really. Call them ten times, ask the exact same question, and you’ll get ten completely different vague, non-committal answers.

Yes, you don't want to do any searches online and check with TSA and your airline. Rely on the Hogg.

TSA doesn't inspect your bags when you return to the US - just when you leave. They evaluate inspection in other countries. Recently returned from overseas. My carry-on camera case and bag were scanned but nothing else. However - after going through customs and immigration in the US I had to go through the standard no-shoes TSA screening before getting a connecting flight.
No issues with the camera either way. I made sure all of my extra rechargeable batteries were in cases so they couldn't short and start a fire - but there seemed to be no real concern about batteries.

Take all of the our knowledge, opinions, and just plain bullshit and average it together and you will have.... well, bullshit probably!

Exactly! I have also gone right through TSA without a hitch, but the guy ahead of me had a rigorous inspection of his carry-on plus a pat down behind a screen. That makes for two very different opinions on the same day.
Ditto. I returned from the Philippines a few years ago and Customs and Immigration in Detroit spent a half hour going through my carry-on of electronics. They were taking out memory cards, asking if I had password protected files in my computer, etc. I told them to knock themselves out and took my ebook reader into a corner while they went through the carry-on. All of this when I returned to the US.
